Unhappy 2004 Getz dash lights intermittently turning on/off

Hi, the dash lights on my partner's 2004 Getz have recently started individually turning on and off when we drive it - it might start with two on, then we lose them all, then one comes on etc.

Google searches suggest that dash lights are a problem for the Getz but all the other threads seem to be about the lights all going out permanently together.

Could it perhaps be a loose connection somewhere?

Thanks!

Instead of throwing parts at it, you need to remove the instrument cluster and verify power is not being interrupted by a cold solder joint or a crack on the printed circuit board.
A voltmeter should help to find this problem. Sometimes a circuit board has to be sent out to be thoroughly checked out.

Hi Hanky, thanks for replying so fast. Does the fact that it's affecting all the lights behind the instrument cluster but different lights at different times help narrow down what it might be? I might have thought that a solder crack would either affect just one light, or if it affected all three lights then they would all go out/come back on together at the same time?

Thanks

You bring up a valid point. It could involve possibly power or ground to all of those functions. Those things need to be checked and verified before jumping to conclusions and condemning the instrument cluster itself.
