Default 2019 Santa Fe replacing liftgate strut

Having issues with replacing the struts on our 2019 liftgate. Anyone else ever have this issue, and if so, how did you fix it?

To replace the liftgate struts on your 2019 Santa Fe, start by making sure you’ve got the right struts for your vehicle, whether OEM or a good aftermarket brand. First, prop up the liftgate with something sturdy like a broomstick or have someone hold it because it's heavy and could fall once the old struts are removed. Look for the metal clips or retaining pins at both ends of the old struts. You’ll need a small flathead screwdriver to carefully pop those clips out. Once the clips are loosened, you can pull the strut off from both the top and bottom ball joints. When putting the new ones on, just press them into place on the ball joints and you’ll hear a click when they snap in. Make sure the strut is secured tightly before releasing the liftgate. Repeat the same steps for the other side if needed. It's simple enough that you can do it at home, just take your time and be careful with the clips.

Careful with those clips, they can be a pain. I broke one and had to order a replacement. Take your time with them.
