Default Bent Valve?

My timing belt went on my 01 Sonata is it possible to tell if my valves are bent or there is other serious engine damage before doing the labor of replacing the belt. Does the belt have to be fixed in order to see if they are bent?

Good chance your motor is toast. Best way to find out is to put a new belt on it and see what happens.

Are your valves bent? Probably. Let's hope that's all that happened. This could have been your outcome:

How many miles were on the engine when the belt broke?
