Check Engine light on 2001 Sonata
Hi, I am new here so if I make a mistake, please be forgiving! <smile>. My issue is this, I have a 2001 Sonata. When I am going about 70 MPH down the highway, and I punch it a little to pass another car, my car will jerk once really hard, then the check engine light will come on. When this happens, the tach shows the engine is running about 1000 RPM's higher than normal for that speed. If I pull over, turn off the engine, then restart the car, it is fine except for the check engine light stays on. I took it to the dealer, they ran their diags and it point to a bad oxygen sensor. They replaced it and everything was fine for 3 days, but then the car did the "jerk" thing again and the check engine light is back on. I live pretty far from the dealer and it is a major inconvience for me to keep bringing the car to them. Any ideas???

try the fuel pump or fuel filter, it may be blocked, when u increase speed the car needs to use more fuel and pumps harder, if your fuel filter has too much junk in it, it will block the line as its trying to pump it through. If it isnt that check the fuel lines as well as fuel lines get soft over time, if it is the fuel lines u'll have to replace them (for some reason this sounds too much like a fuel issue) The other possability is the clutch, but I dont think it has anything to do with ur engine.
