Default 2 issues i think related, cooling system

I am new to this forum and my daughters car has an issue with the temp gauge showing very low like just getting off the bottom, i just changed the thermostat on the motor and i know the engine is up to temperature. also the electric fan on the radiator starts running a couple of seconds after you start the car and continues to run all the time. Question: are the sensors that drive these two things somehow connected or can the wires somehow be crossed?

Only through the ECM. I would double check the temp sensor lead and make sure you didn't somehow connect it back up in reverse fashion when you finished the thermostat replacement. I also check around the engine compartment where you were working for loose ground wires.

Yeah i would check to see if there's a slight short in the temp sensor wiring. I've had that happen on vehicals before and had all kinds of temp readings despite the actual temp of the engine
