2000 Accent GSI 5 speed - 2 problems

2000 Accent GSI 5 speed - 2 problems
I have a 2000 Accent GSI, standard transmission. When I start the car the clutch is making a grinding sound. I have to change into 2nd and 4th gear slowly or they grind into gear. The car runs fine otherwise. I had the clutch replaced 1.5 years ago. Could the problem be the clutch plate? Do bearings in the transmission need to be replaced? I'd appreciate some help with this problem before I take it into the garage tomorrow.
Second problem...the washer fluid pump stopped working suddenly. I've checked all of the fuses and none are gone. Any ideas regarding this problem as well?
