Default 2005 Accent 2 Door with some newb questions

I have a 2005 Hyundia Accent 2 door.

I have 36k miles on it and i'm taking it into the shop to get some things done. Any input on the things i need replaced and inspected is greatly appreciated.

These are the following things that will get replaced according to the owner's manual: Air Cleaner Filter, Fuel Tank Air Filter, Spark Plugs, Automatic Transaxle Fluid.

Inspect: Fuel Lines, Fuel Hoses & Connections, Vapor Hose & Fuel Filter Cap.

I have some questions if you could answer them back with a 1) 2) and 3) so its easy to read thanks.

1) I've thought about purchasing http://tornadofuelsaver.com/ for the hyundai accent 2005. Is this thing a gimmick?
Please state if you have actually used it, and on what kind of car.

2) Should I get the transmission fluid checked/changed? How often does the transmission fluid need to be changed?

3) Can anyone recomend anything to make this car more fuel efficient

4) this car does not have power windows or locks . Is there a kit I could buy or is there someone in LA that does this.

5) Can anyone recomend a good tutorial webpage / product to keep this car clean ? Do i need a pressurized water sprayer?

6) Can anyone recomend some decent monitors/speakers for this car. the current stereo sounds like a pos

7) I haven't replaced the brakes yet, and it has 36k miles should I replace the brake pads?

Stay Classy

1) Tornados are totally bogus and may even lower your mileage. Don't bother.

2) Do you have an automatic transmission? I think the maintenance schedule says 60,000 miles for AT fluid, unless you're under severe driving conditions (which, it turns out, most people are). If that's the case, I think it's 30,000 miles. If you get an AT flush and fill, make sure the shop you use puts ONLY SP-III fluid in the car. Some shops claim they have universal fluids but they aren't; for transmission service your best bet is to have a dealer do it.

3) Fuel efficiency- in my experience, the best way to improve mileage is to go easy on the gas and brake. If you don't push the engine really hard, and if you coast as much as possible without hitting the brakes, your mileage improves.

4) Sorry, no help there.

5) Some people get really really into "detailing" their cars. I like to keep mine clean, but don't go crazy about it. For outside the car, I use TurtleWax Zip Wax Car Wash fairly regularly, and wipe it down with a microfiber towel. Once in a while (maybe 4-6 times a year), do a wax job with a good quality wax. Inside, I just vacuum it and use Armor All on the dash and stuff. Under the hood, I use Black Magic 2-in-1 Engine Shine. With the engine warm, but not hot, spray it down, wait about 15 minutes, then rinse if off with a hose (LIGHT SPRAY ONLY; don't blast the electrical bits with water!)

6)I recemmended getting a new stereo before replacing the speakers. I put a new head unit in my Elantra and the stock speakers sound much better than they did with the original head unit. I got a Pioneer, but any decent name brand will do.

7) Pull your wheels and check your brakes. They have "squealers" on them too, so they will make noise when they need to be changed. I have discs on all four wheels; my rears are almost done at 32000 miles, and the fronts still have plenty of wear left.

yeah stay away from those tornados... junk... just a way to make you spend money... as far as the stereo goes... like doohickie said... replace the head unit first... but, with the accent speakers, they will probably blow within a month,, due to the cheap cardboard/paper design they put in there. I have a pioneer in mine as well. (pioneer and alpine are my favorite).

For the detail, the outside of the vehicle, i use Mother's Products.. they make a product for everything, wax, tireshine... rim cleaner...etc.. I also use Nxt Generation dash shine.... Looks great, and has a nice smell to it. If you plan on keeping the seats, looking like stock (without seat covers) then i would get some spray Scotchguard... that will help with spills etc... Don't let anyone smoke in the car, if you can help it... those seats will burn easy when ashes fall on them ( know from experience) thats what happens when your fiance' lets a friend smoke in the car...

as far as the Windows/locks... you will have to replace almost everything in the doors... the windows would have to be changed topower... etc... you would have to change the doorpanels for the switches.... you will have to change the locking mechanizm... there is a WHOLE lot of stuff you will have to do... the easiest thing, would be get a hold of some Auto Salvage doors... both sides... that would be the easiest, and over all cheapest way to do it. Still will cost you about 500-1000 bucks... but, hey, if thats what you want go for it... lol Just get used to using your hands more... I did... Meanwhile this is the first car in a long time, that didnt have power windows/locks... Better off using the regular locks/windows, because in the long run, when they die, you won't have to replace them again... too much trouble... but, like i said... up to you

Good luck

Somewhere around 38K to 40K I badly needed new front brake pads and rotors. Thats with heavy NYC driving.

It's definitely worth checking.
