Default 2005 Hyundai having starting problems

I have a 2005 Hyundai Accent 1.6 L. The car had power to it but would not turn over. The battery seemed dead. Tried to jumper it and even replaced the battery.
All I get is a clicking noise for about 2 seconds and then it quits without turning over. I know there is plenty of power in the battery as it is brand new. Usually this is a tell tale sign of starter trouble. But I have heard Hyundai's don't usually have starter problems.

Thoughts?

Are the battery cables in good shape and clean?

Yep, they are clean.

I looked at the starter and the alternator and I can see I have my work cut out for me if either one is the cause.

I just hope this is something cheap and easy to fix, though...

Problem solved. I looked in the positive terminal cap and there was a TON of corrosion in there.
Cleaned the hell out of it and- BAM!- fixed!

Goes to show that these newer cars are fickle beasts indeed!

Like I said, clean battery cables are important. Glad it was an easy fix.

I have a 2004 Hyundia Accent with automatic transmission. Today for the first time it would not start. When turning the key to start, nothing happens, no clicking or nothing. It acts like if there were no battery in it. The battery has full charge and I checked the cables ends that connects to battery and cleaned them. Still will not turnover. Can anyone tell me what the problem is? I have 60,000 miles on it.

You need to check the other ends of the cables. Is there power at the other end of the positive cable where it attaches to the starter?

my wife has a similar issue to everyones, her car is a 2005 elantra, approx 65K miles, battery is new (replaced within the last year). Taken it to several locations being left with a puzzled look by the mechanic.
Originally thought that it could be that the car was somehow still in gear when trying to startup, but my wife proved me wrong today. Classic symptoms dashboard and all instrumentation start up, but no turnover (hear clickin but no results) .
We had boosted it and it kicks over right away. Then it will good for a period of time and then the symptoms bloom back.
It seems like we are not the only recipients of this issue. Has hyndai put anything out on this ?
