The trouble I see it is there doesn't seem to be an overdrive in the 5 speed.

Then the final drive is too high.

There is only 500 rpm difference between 4th and 5th.
There is only 500 rpm difference between 4th and 5th.
60-mph in 4th gear = 3558 rpm
60-mph in 5th gear = 2889 rpm
Remember, this is a small displacement 4-cyl engine with limited torque. You don't want the rpms too low. Those engine make power and are more efficient at higher rpms.

I've thought about calling them. My Festiva had a 1.3L motor with a 5 speed. 4th and 5th were both OD and the car ran great, easily getting 45 mpg. The gear ratios on the Accent's 5 speed transmission are way to close for the most efficient economy. There is plenty of torque multiplication on this car. I didn't buy this car for its quarter mile performance.

The 2008 Accent has a curb weight of 2467-lbs and a 110-hp 1.6L engine rated at 27/32-mpg (source).
The Accent is 670-lbs heavier than the Festiva. That's like driving your Festivia around with three extra 220-lbs guys. I'll bet you wouldn't get 45-mpg in your Festiva with all that extra weight. Plus, the Festiva had a better fuel economy rating to begin with.

Taller tires will throw your speedo and odometer off. They will both be inaccurate and therefor, you won't know the true mileage.
