Default 2010 Hyundai Accent "SR" Conversion Project: Codename Ripley

Hey all!

New to the forum but not to the Hyundai ownership world. I'm currently in the process of converting my 2010 Hyundai Accent GL into the rare (Canada Only) "SR" model. I'm at about 69% or so from completing the project itself. Here's my baby;

My mod list is as follows:

Window Tint - Completed!
Tail Light Tint - Not yet completed
HID Headlights [6000K] - Completed!
HID Fogs [3000K] - Completed!
De-Badge - Completed!
Cat-Back Exhaust - Completed!
Air Intake Resonator Delete - Completed!
Cold Air Intake/Short Ram Intake - Completed!
High Flow Catalytic Converter - Completed!
B&M Short Shifter - Completed!
Bluetooth OBDII Adapter - Completed!
Tablet (for use with Torque app) - Completed!
Racing Headers - Not yet completed
Lowering Springs - Not yet completed
OEM Warning Sticker Replacement - Completed!
New Brake Calipers & Drums - Completed!
Front Strut Bar - Not yet completed
ECU Remap - Completed!
OEM Ground Effects Kit - Completed!
3M 1080 Carbon Vinyl Wrap (Maybe) - Not yet completed
Interior LED Conversion - Not yet completed
Complete Sound System Overhaul - Not yet completed
Custom "SR" Badging - Completed!

I'm sure I'll be adding to the list over time. lol Here are some videos of my exhaust note so far (before headers):

Lots of people asked me how loud she is, well, this next video is from inside. Her note shakes windows. lol

This is my most recent after the second cat delete and WOT, something I had yet to do on film

Performance headers are coming this month as well as lowering hopefully. Anyhow, thanks for letting me post my project. If you have any questions or comments don't hesitate to reply. Thanks all!

Nice. I always appreciate the effort to make mods look factory clean! At least from these pictures that's what it looks like.

Do you plan to get a tune after the headers? Typically depending on the engine (in this case a small 4-banger), bolt-ons may only gain you +10-15 *peak* whp even after a tune (referring to a Nissan Sentra 1.8L) and the power curve may or may not be what you want (might feel more sluggish off the line and make more power up top where you might not need it much for DD). However, it sounds like you might just know what you're doing, so I'll shut up now, haha.

Any way, nice to see someone modding an Accent for the fun of doing it. I'll have to listen to the exhaust clip when I get home!

Thanks man. Yeah I know full well I'll be losing some low end torque. I'm actually getting a ECU custom tuned by a connection in Korea. It'll straight up replace my current stock one and be pre-programmed to my exact specs. Then I'll tweak it in real time once installed and running over here.

Korean connection eh? Sounds like a sweet deal.

Finally got a chance to sneak onto a country road and do a 0-100 kph test. The roads were slightly slick so my launches were less than stellar to say the least. This was the best of three attempts all under 8 which is amazing for this car. Anyhow, thought I'd post it.

0-60mph in 7.23 seconds.. wow, that's really not bad at all for this thing! That's faster than a stock IS250 (and old IS300) for comparison. By comparison my 2012 Accent 1.6L sedan takes a good even 10 seconds to get to 60 mph with ECO mode turned off (but it is a 6-sp Auto). My '06 Sentra 1.8L (also auto) took over 9 seconds too.

I guess your mods have either really helped and/or the car is already a tad quicker than I imagined (typically such sub compacts are in the 9-10 second 0-100kph/60mph range unless it's a special performance trim).

Is this "SR" your fabrication or an actual Hyundai Accent performance trim (I'm guessing by the "kph" spedo...you're in Canada)?

You are correct sir. Yeah we have a Canadian exclusive 07' Accent model labeled "SR." Came with all the stuff I've done to mine except the exhaust system and personal touches.

Yeah under 8 for these cars is awesome. Once the headers and other mods are complete and I install the new ECU hopefully after a tune I can regain some of my low end torque. I want to try for low 14's this spring. Doing some major weight reductions to get the lowest time possible.

Bunch of stuff done to Ripley since my first post here.

Managed to get a hold of a Korean Unlocked/Un-Governed ECU, took that along with everything else I've done for a nice little tune, had them up my IT by 2 degrees and I'm currently running a slightly lean A/F mixture. Had my hood wrapped, did a full retrofit conversion and more to come.

Shot a quick video for fun too, my Fiancee wanted to drive the Accent so I filmed her revving and having a little fun while I drove her E.

Here is all the images and videos since last post;
