Default Anyone assembled a cold air intake for a 2008

Anyone assembled a cold air intake from the Specter line for a 2008 Accent. The specter line is being carried by the local Oreillys and Advance auto parts stores. Another question about the cold air intake stuff. I was changing the oem air filter for the first time and there is a large alum. flat object on the side of the air box. What is it, can it be left there while aCAI is installed. The stock air filter lasted about 7000 mi and cost $20.00, a K & N will pay for itself
in mileage and replacement costs. I have priced the hyundai CAI and it's over $300.00 (ouch).
