Default CEL and only 34,000 miles

Hey Guys,

My 2005 Hyundai Accent has a problem.

Tonight driving home from work, my ever favorite CEL light comes on and stays on. The car was riding fine and if I didn't glance down at the dash, I wouldn't have known there was a problem.

A small back story: Earlier this morning (and yesterday morning), while driving, the car unexpectedly lunged forward. From that point, the engine was revving at about 3500 (and I was only driving 50 mph) and it was really loud. This had happened before- maybe once every couple of months. I can't help but wonder if its all related. I'm going to bring it in on Tuesday to have the codes checked. Anyone out there ever had a similiar problem?

Your car is still under warranty. Go to a dealer and have it checked out and fixed for free.

I have the Same problem with my '07 accent ever since i bought the car. Taken it to the dealership 4 times now. First two times they said the computer needed to be reset. The other times, they said there is no problem, yet the engine light will sometimes stay on for days, or even blink. Sometimes while driving the light comes on, car lunges and feels like it dies momentarily, though it does stall at red lights sometimes. Dealership here is useless.

Default Got the diagnosis

The dealership said its a faulty Transmission sensor. It's under warranty (yay!). I think I can breathe more easily now. I'll know for sure when I get it back and I'm driving again.

Glad to hear it wasn't anything major and it was still covered by the warranty.

Default The Verdict

I got her back from the dealership. She runs great. Real test is tomorrow when I take her on the interstate.

Codes found:

P 0300 Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected
P 0303 Cylinder 3-Misfire detected
ATP 0734 Gear 4-Incorrect Ratio

They replaced input and output sensors.

So far so good. I hope it stays that way.

It is nice to hear that your car is in guarantee period and not a major problem.so you should take it to the dealer get it checked, dont worry once you take it to them they will check and all will be fine .
