Default I"m stumped.

I was changing my timing belt. Finished with everything. So I started to put everything back on. However, for whaterver reason the timing belt cover bolts won't go back on. They seem slightly too short to go back on the cover an into the engine. I can't figure out what happened. These have to be the bolts to the timing cover. All eight are the same length. Four for the top and four to the bottom. Their a little too short to go back in. Am I doing something wrong. IS there some kinda trick to get them back in. It seems like one problem after another with replacing this timing belt.

damn still on that belt? is it possible for you to take a pic and post it to show what you're experiencing? are the covers flushed with the engine/surface where it bolts onto?
