Default jerky idle

I have a 1999 Accent with approximately 100,000 miles on it. It's major repair history consists of replacing the transmission a little over a year ago. It wasn't a smooth fix either - I was in and out of the transmission shop a few times - but other than that, not too many problems.

Recently, the car has started to jerk when I'm idling. It's not a huge movement, but it's two or three times in a row and definitely noticeable. I'd say it does this about 65% of the time and I haven't noticed any correlations with weather or start/end of the driving time. It's still intermittent so while it worries me, it may be difficult for a mechanic to figure out what's going on. It is also entirely possible that it is a quirk of old age.

Does anyone have any ideas as to what this might be?

Not too sure but mine recently went in with a major shimmy at anything less than 2000 rpm. It stalls all the time and is super slow to respond. The little jerk during idle started about amonth ago. It could be an ingector problem where the car isn't getting enough gas??? I will let you know what I hear when they call today.

Good luck!

This sounds somewhat similar to my problem.

Having looked at many of the threads it sounds
like there many with laggy luggy issues.

I am curious about success stories with similar issues.

Currently waiting for weather to clear up as it has been raining
here on HYUNDAI ISLAND.CANADA
Wondering if moist cool weather could be part of the issue
and if weather is a factor what the next step is

before you go off on one check the usual -plug, h/t leads and coils for arching. rev the engine in the dark and see if you can spot any flashes from the leads or coil packs

i cant gaurrentee this will work, but i am a big fan of seafoam for older engines, a can in the gas tanks, half a can in the intake, half in the oil 100 miles before you change it. it really helps to keeps everything clean and smooth
