Hey, i have a 2000 accent with the 1.5 SOHC, The car idles a little rough it has a miss every ounce in a while, but we just got back from a trip and while we were on our trip the car started having this sputter. Its fine when u give it throttle up to 1/2 but then after that ( 1/2 to Full throttle ) its starts sputtering and missing really bad. it does this through all gears.

 

I suspect a failing throttle position sensor, but it could be one of several malfunctions. You need to have the car connected to a code scanner and read any error codes stored on the computer. If you don't wish to take the car to a dealer or mechanic, you can sometimes rent or borrow such a scanner from a parts supplier like Autozone, NAPA, O'Reily, etc. Without the codes, a person is only guessing what is wrong.

 

I have a scanner but no codes have come up, ive replaced the plugs, wires, MAF, both O2 sensors. So i guess ill try the TPS Thanks

 

One of my belts was squealing on my Ford Festiva, the car ran a bit rough & I was getting bad MPG. My mechanic replaced the timing belt & as I've said other places, my MPG went way up. The car ran smoother too.
