Need some '02 info from you experts!
Hey all,
Brand new here, considering picking myself up a little 2002 Accent. It's really hard to resist the value; I've been looking at newer (05-07) Accents, but I just found a listing for the 02:

For the asking price, it's hard to be too picky, I realize that. However, just a question or two, if anyone can shed some light:
1.) Realistically, given good maintainance, how long can these cars be expected to last? Over 150k? 200k?
2.) Anyone gotten in an accident in one of these? I know Hyundai started putting side and curtain airbags in the Accents starting in 2006, but the 02 just has the front. It's a very small, lightweight car.
3.) Fuel economy: can I expect to average over 30? 35?
Thanks everyone! Much appreciated!

RE: Need some '02 info from you experts!
I have an '01 slightly modded 4-door. I love my car. The engines in these little cars will run forever, but they are notorious for tranny problems, so I would recommend getting a warranty...try Smart Auto Warranty if the car doesnt have its original anymore. Gas mileage varies, if it is windy out your mileage drops, if your tranny is acting up, your mileage drops, etc...but on the highway I get about 28mpg...more like 22-24 in town. The newer ones (after '04) are much better on gas, but still the older ones are better than most cars of their size and struff. All in all that is a SUPER deal for the car, and I dont think you will be disappointed in it.
