Are performance parts for more mpg worth it?
I drive a 2004 Hyundai Accent 1.6L and have been thinking about adding a performance air intake system and perhaps a new performance exhaust system, specifically for the purpose of getting better gas mileage. I talked to my dad about and he said it wouldn't really be worth the money at all cause it's already such a small engine. What do you guys think? Do you have any other gas saving opinions apart from driving practices? Thanks in advance.

Your dad is correct. You're not going to see any real gains in fuel economy from an aftermarket intake or exhaust unless your stock intake or exhaust are damaged.
If better fuel ecomomy is what you are looking for your best modification is your right foot. Easy on the accelerator and slow down.

The best investment you can make for fuel economy is a K&N air filter. They're expensive, $40-45, but you will see an immediate 2-3 mpg improvement. I have 184,000 miles on my '02 Accent, drive lots of highway miles. I consistently average 37-39 mpg. Good luck. By the way, they drop right into your existing filter housing. No need for expensive modifications.
