Spark Plugs Or Running To Lean? 09 Accent gls
Alright. so my girlfriends family only has one running car a 09 accent gls,
76,000 miles and due for inspection at the end of this month.
I tried to help out since money is such an issue here.I threw on one
of my old cone air filters and tubing to save on gas.
But about 100 miles later the check engine light came on. It said misfire in
cylinder 1.
I thought this to be very weird, especially since they had all the plugs and
coils replaced (By the Hyundai dealership, Because her dad didn't yet know
i could handle it...lol.) right when i moved in 6 month ago. because i
suspected them going when it threw a light for a misfire in #2,
and i then sea foamed it right after that and poured some Lucas fuel system
cleaner in it at that time. since my mom had some old stuff laying
around.
So anyway when it threw the light for #1 100 miles after i installed the
cone filter, i pulled the plug in #1 and checked it, it seamed to be just
turning a little white one its ground prong, so i pulled the battery to reset
the computer and see if it happened again. and i hoped it wouldnt with the
inspection/emissions at the end of this month.
it ran alright, and the one time i was getting in the back seat i noticed that
it seamed to have a more "aggressive" note coming from the stock
muffler.
But as you might have thought the light came back, so i pulled th plug in
#1 once again to check how its done since the last 100+ miles.
and now it was really obvious that its running to hot cause it was white
even more so than last time so i pulled the filter assembly and replaced it
with the stock setup and once again reset the battery. (hoping that he puts
on 300+ miles by the end of this month)
I then started to look around for a number for a (Good but Cheap) colder
plug and thought about bosch platinum oe.
me and her brother went to advanced auto yesterday to grab some, and
when i got there we pulled #2 plug out to show him to make sure the NGK R
plugs in there were the right part number for that car. and they were. he
asked if i smelled any fuel odors and i said no, so it dawned on me the damn
thing might be running to LEAN. and he seamed to agree when i said it out loud.
a fuel pump assembelly is like $300.00+
and o2 sensors are like $75.00+ a pop for a tottal of $150.00+
and were 2+ months behind on rent to give you the idea of how bad things
are for us.
come on guys and help....what are your opions to help me out, on the cheap
