Default Sqealing fan belt(s).

Mornin' from Texas ya'll,
Does anyone know how to cure a sqealing fan belt/belts? It's driving me CRAZY! I've tried the belt dressing stuff but that only lasts for about a day. Then, back to sqealing. It mainly only does it when I first crank up after the car has been off for a while. Then as soon as it's warm it usually stops. Heck I've heard you can rub a bar of soap on your belts and everything to get them to stop sqealing, I don't care what I have to do, I just want it to STOP.
I even googled it and someone said on yahoo answers that it could be the pulley, but my question is, if it's the pulley, why does it only do it for a few minutes when it's cold?

Thanks in advance...

the belts might be no good or need to be adjusted. most likely belts are no good. replace them if the noise bothers you. pulley would make the noise all the time.

Ok see I replaced all the belts back in like January or Feburary but, I will tell you this, the A/C compressor has that brown-looking dust stuff coming out of it kind of like what cars get on the front wheels from the brake shoes. So I'm wondering if that clutch on the A/C compressor is going bad. Heck it's never been changed and that car has like 233,000 miles on it. I'm wondering if that is drying out the belts real bad.

Solved,
I discovered a broken alternator bolt the other day and so this weekend I had to jack the motor up and drill it out. It was some work, but the sqeal is GONE and I am once again a happy camper.

Did you also replace the timing belt? I thought it was my water pump belt squealing on my Ford Festiva, but my mechanic changed the timing belt & the squeal went away...also now I get the best MPG my Festivaever had & it had great MPG in the beginning.

Yeah, I had already installed a new timing belt back in like January. It was the broken alternator bolt; when I fixed that, the sqeal went away.
