Timing belt question for a 2003 accent
#2
Yes, it is an interference engine. At the very least you have bent valves. So you will need either a new head or at least new valves and head work. The timing belt needs to be changed every 60K miles or 5 years. How many miles were on the engine? It should have been done 2 years ago.

Before you go tooooo wild tearing it apart,,, flip a new timing belt on and re-install the crank pulley + tighten enough to keep the crank cog in place, and start it up and see if it will light a fire and run... go from there.
