Default Timing belt replacement

Hello everyone, new here and looking for some answers. I am the proud original owner of a 02 Accent GS with a Talon kit. I have 150K miles and need to replace the timing belt. I had it changed last at 60K and paid a mechanic to change it but now times are different and so is the money. I have been searching on how and what I need to do to make this change with no results until I came upon this website. So if anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated. It's a DOHC 1.6. I bought the belt from the dealer and a component kit from Advanced that has the idler and tension pulleys.

Pretty straight forward, remove belts, remove pulley from water pump, front mount, upper cover, roll motor to align timing marks, remove crank damper, lower cover, release tension arm bolts, push arm up to release and snug bolt to hold it.. flip the belt.

Forgot to mention, remove power steering pressure hose from top of pump, that'll clean out the front so you can work in the open..

Hit it again when compressor full.. They normally come right out.

Use 1/2" gun and a short heavy 6pt socket.

Finally got it. Went to Sears and bought a Proffesional 725ft. lb. Impact, buzzed her right off. Finished up tonight only one thing went wrong. I was trying to loosen the AC idler bolt and snapped it. Then I see you're suppose to loosen the bolt that goes through the idler then the other bolt so now my wife won't have AC till I order a new piece. Thanks again for your help, it was intimidating at first but now that I've done it you're right pretty much straight forward.

Very good... did you enjoy re-assemble of the water pump/power steering pulley ?

Elantra has nub to align pulley to pump flange, Accent does not..

Other than that, pretty simple job with not much misc to be removed.

Believe it or not I actually had a harder time removing the bolts. It took two tries to get the bolts back in but mann they don't leave much room.

I don't know about you but we bought this car new and have driven it accross the country and even up to Canada. It's been a very good car. I have rust around the rear wheel well on the left side but I think it's because my wife hit a pole pulling away in a parking lot and that's where the body work was done. Other than that there is no rust. I do have a little valvetrain noise when you start it though. Years ago I had them replace the valvetrain for the same reason under warranty but it even did it afterwards so who knows....I've had Mobil 1 in it since the first oil change so hopefully it keeps going. Oil pan is rusting, weird.. All my domestic cars don't have that problem but that's because they leak. This car is dry as a bone underneath, like I say it's been a great car!!
