Default OVER RUN ?

Got a 1.6 coupe, think its great. However it does seem to have over run ie when dipping the clutch to change gear the revs seem to hold before dropping slightly later even though the accelarator has been lifted.Have also noticed that sometimes when slowing down and depressing the clutch the revs seem to slightly increase momentarily.Anyone got similar problems or know the cause ?????

Just got car back from its first service.Apparently the cause is a faulty throttle position sensor, which is now on order. Is mine the only car to have this problem??

Hi again
Did the garage solve your problem.I thought that it had solved mine but have since been experiencing the same problem.Mine seems to be holding the revs when I change gear, almost as if it were on choke.Sometimes when I accelarate hard, the engine seems to find a flat spot and does not accelarate smoothly ?

If the engine rpms do not drop right away when you take your foot off the accelerator, that's not a bug, it's a feature. The Idle Air Controller (IAC) purposely holds the rpms up when you suddenly lift off the pedal; letting the rpms drop suddenly can result in a rich mixture that polutes. By making the rpms hang a little, there is more complete combustion of the fuel for a cleaner burn and lower emissions.

Here is a guy selling the plates for Elantras and Spectras (2.0L): http://www.elantraxd.com/forums/showthread.php?t=24364

And here is where the part is mounted on the engine (2.0L):

Thanks for the suggestion, although the engine seems to have stooped holding the revs of its own accord (as it has in the past) and is now running sweetly.I'm a bit puzzled now as it has done this intermittently in the past,so would this suggest something sticking or possibly a fault somewhere ?
