Hyundai Elantra While not much larger than the accent, the Elantra offers similar room, but a sportier look and feel, as well as more power.

Default 02 Elantra Minor Vibration

I was experiencing some major vibration in the steering wheel of my 02 Elantra GT at high speeds (65-75 mph), so I had the tires balanced properly right awayand it solved the problem by maybe about 80%. Right now I still feel some minor vibration...The steering wheel doesn't shake any longer, but there is still something in the cabin. I can see the headrest of the passenger seat vibrating a bit and I can feel it in the floor. It did this a bit before the problem, but now I notice it more. Maybe this is common, or maybe I need better tires (they only have about 10,000 miles on them and they're been rotated twice).

I appreciate any feedback! Thanks.

Welcome to one of the weak points of the Elantra. If your tire shop does not have a Hunter Road Force balance, find one (http://www.gsp9700.com/, then click on Find a GSP9700 Near You). It can help to better balance the tires. One other thing to try is to replace your brake rotors; they are sometimes unbalanced as well.

You will always have some type of vibration, unless you get a bigger car... even then you will have some type of vibration. Have you checked the alignment? That could even cause a vibration, or flat spots on the tire. Do you have oversized rims for the vehicle? if you do, the smaller tires will make it so you feel every bump on the road. That could even add vibrations... Again, i would have to agree with doohickie about the rotors... get them turned... you can take them off, and bring to a local machine shop, for a fraction of the cost of new ones...
