Hyundai Elantra While not much larger than the accent, the Elantra offers similar room, but a sportier look and feel, as well as more power.

Exclamation 04 Daytime running lights

I just added an '04 Elantra to my Hyundai family (now have an '01 Elantra, '04 Elantra, and '06 Sonata). On the '04, when the parking lights are turned on, a small light bulb next to the low beam headlight comes on. The one on the right side is burned out, and I can't figure out how to get it out to replace it. The owner's manual doesn't even show the light at all, as if it doesn't exist. Any pointers?

Thanks!

That's not a daytime running light. That is either the city light or position bulb. It it yellow or white?

A = head lamp low beam bulb
B = high beam bulb
C = position bulb
D = turn signal bulb

The position light is yellow but the city light is white. The city light is not shown in the above diagram. I believe it's accessed from under the headlight assembly but it needs to be removed from the car first.

It's white, and is about an inch or so from the low beam bulb. When I remove the access cover for the low beam I can see the wires to the other light, so that seems like the place to go. I tried to give the light housing a half-turn counterclockwise thinking that would enable me to pull it straight out. It didn't do the trick, although it did seem like I might have been on the right track because the bulb housing seemed to loosen up a bit. There doesn't seem to be enough wire on the plug for it to rotate a full turn. Maybe I'm just a hair short of turning it as far as it needs to go. Also, I haven't removed the entire headlight assembly like the manual suggests for changing the headlight. I've never had to do that with our other Elantra, although changing the headlights requires a little contortion of the fingers if you leave the headlight assembly in place. I'll try removing the headlight assembly and see if that sheds any light (no pun intended) on the situation.

None of the above. That's my problem. The manual doesn't show the light.

Problem solved! I removed the headlight assembly and then removed the access cover for the low beam headlight. Through trial and error I eventually learned that the bulb housing doesn't screw out, and there are no pinch points that have to be pushed in order to unclip it. All it took was a needle-nose pliers. I grabbed the side of the housing and gave it a tug and it came right out. The replacement bulbs were only $1.75 for a two-pack. Maybe it was such an easy fix they didn't feel the need to address it in the owner's manual.

Run the yellow wire from the wiring harness on the DRL kit to the back of the replacement headlights switch. Probe the wiring on the back of the switch using the test light. Turn on the switch to the running light position. When the test light turns on, you've found the right wire. Cut it, strip 1/2 inch from both sides of the wire using the wire strippers, and crimp those two wires together with the yellow wire from the wiring harness, using the blue butt connector and the wire crimpers.

Take a 10mm socket and remove the seal beam lens, very easy, remove connector, once you have lens in your hands, you will see where the little light is, it is a twist off (connector)

Default Lost Little Clip that Holds the springs???

Any idea on how to get a replacement clip that holds on the spring. We tried changing the headlight bulb which we did but it since there wasn't a lot of room and my husband decided not to take the whole assembly out for better access the dumb clip that holds the springs?? fell and disappeared somewhere. We went to the dealer and they said they don't sell that part and they don't use it anymore. All they could offer us was a whole new headlight assembly - GO FIGURE for $ 320. My husband said he would trade the car in on a Chevy and have a nice day.

Search a automotive salvage yard or eBay for either just the clip or the whole headlight assembly.
