Hyundai Elantra While not much larger than the accent, the Elantra offers similar room, but a sportier look and feel, as well as more power.

Default '05 Elantra 30,000 miles strange idle??

Hey all, my wife has an 05 elantra and the idle has always been kinda shaky since practically day one of ownership. I have finally reached the point where something has to be done by the dealer.

Here is the scoop: Whenever we come to a stop, about 15 seconds after, the idle or something shakes a bit., kind of like when the radiator fan kicks in--- a rough type of vibration.

Driveability while the car is going is ok, but has a slight "hesitation" not exactly a hesitation but just does'nt move smoothly.

I am also noticing that the brake pedal seems to be going down a little further than usual, not sure if this is anyway related knowing the fact that this " roughness" occurs shortly after braking.

My biggest concern is when I do take it to the dealer(still under warranty) they of course will say " no check engine light----no code ----no can fix!"

How will I go about properly handling the situation?

Thanks for your time, and all the info you have already provided especially when I posted about the control arms rust/bust on my 02 elantra.

The two might be related if there is a vacuum leak in the power brake booster.

Thanks NovaResource,

Can I test if there is a vacuum leak by spraying starter fluid on that hose?

Also, any suggestions on how to deal with the dealer service department when they say " sorry no check engine light."

Can a small leak go undetected by the computer?
