Default 1999 Elantra

I have a 1999 elantra with a automatic transmission The other day I pulled up to an store went in a stayed about 10 mins came back out and I have no reverse or overdrive and you have to rev it up to get it in 3rd the transmission was giving no problems up until this changed the fuild about a month ago is the transmission shot or what.

Could just be that the fluid needs topping up.

Thats not it have already checked the fluid. fluid does not smell burnt looks clean.

you need a new trans or get that one rebuilt mine did that at 175000 miles it felt like it was in neutral when it did engage i only have 3rd gear and it would feel like it kicked into neutral after i got going and it did that to me 6times within a half mile back to the shop and that morning i lost o/dand when we checked the fluid it smelled burnt. just to make sure did you use the correct AT fluid? if you did it sounds like your trans is not building up enough line pressure to engage the clucthes you would notice that especially when it is warm. i hope this helps
