2002 Elantra with rough idle and cylinder 1 misfire
I have an 02 Elantra with 118,000 miles on it. Been a great car. Last month it developed a rough idle issue. Runs great otherwise. I also have a check engine light. Folks at the local parts store diagnosed it as p0301 (cylinder 1 misfire). No other codes. My first thoughts are it needs a new spark plug, or sparkplug wires. Changing the sparkplug today. If that doesn't cure this issue, would love some other ideas. Trying to avoid a costly visit to the shop.

2003 Elantra misfire
My engine has a code for misfire on cylinder 3.Replaced spark plug, plug wire and ignition coil pack and all the same.Does anybody fixed an issue like this. The only thing I think is left it is the injector itself. Under acceleration it runs OK, it only sputters at idle.Any thoughts?
After more research I found the intake manifold gasket was blown at cylinder #3.Only about 2 inches are missing on the top.How can that happen? I heard air suction noise and sprayed the area with brake cleaner and the engine was dieing due to the cleaner.

Had the same issue on a 2005. I found that the wires to the injector were rubbed bare where the wires exit the plastic tray that houses them. Take the cover off the top of the motor and find the wires going to the injectors, work back to tray and open it up. Look under and around all of the wires. I had 2 that were shorted out and several that were worn.
