2002 Overvoltage DTC Code
2002 Hyundai Elantra GLS (Sedan) I am getting a check engine light with the code P0563 which results in an "System Overvoltage" condition.
Doing more research on this I found that it is activated when the main relay has an excess of 16V and with possible conditions of
● Contact resistance in connectors
● Faulty charging system
● Faulty Altenator
● Reverse battery cable connection (+/- reverse)
Right when I started up my car today, BOTH headlights burned out as well. I am simply trying to diagnose the problem so I can get it fixed without getting the run around from the auto stores charging me for inconclusive diagnostics.
I did the voltage test across the battery terminals while the car was running and during startup and off and I got the following voltages:
OFF : 13.65 V
STARTUP : 11.24 V
IDLE: 13.78 V
and if i leave the car idle the voltage will creep up to 13.98 - 14.02 V and hang around there.
