Hyundai Elantra While not much larger than the accent, the Elantra offers similar room, but a sportier look and feel, as well as more power.

Default 2007 Stereo "ERROR 22"

Hi All,

My 2007's original stereo pulls an "ERROR 22" whenever it feels like doing so. Two scenarios:

1.) I'll enter a CD. The stereo spends about 20 seconds "Loading", then spits out the CD and says "ERROR 22".
2.) I'll start the car. The stereo magically decides to spit out the CD that was loaded and says "ERROR 22".

It does this with all of my CDs, and it's completely random. Nothing else on the car is affected, as far as I can tell. Seeing as I'm a broke MFA student, I was wondering if anyone here knew what an "ERROR 22" is, prior to spending federal student aid money on a machine with an attitude problem.

Thanks,
Jessica

P.S.: I just spoke with a service tech at my nearest Hyundai dealer, & he hadn't heard of the ERROR 22. If they don't know, does anyone?

Hey i have the same problem!!!!! your not alone! mine wont play any cds now. I was on my way to the beach from Pennsylvania to Myrtle beach south carolina and had a large stack of cds ready to play for the trip. i got on the first highway and almost died when it ejected it and said error 22. last year on vacation it decided to freeze on a song and when i shut the car off the cd player still light up. Im thinking about replacing the radio with an aftermarket.. Let me know if you find anything out to fix it.!

Thanks bruce

I think the unit was supplied by HEI Autonet. Contact info in the states for repair is:

Hyundai Autonet Pontus America
1421 Edinger Avenue
Tustin, CA 92680
(800) 648-7577

It's an 800 number so try giving them a call. You'll likely need to know which unit you have. Choices are listed in the owners manual.

Good luck.
