Default 2011 Hyundai Elantra Sport Shift Not Working

Hello,

I bought my Elantra about a month ago and never really got around to trying the sport shifter till now. I notice I can up shift but can not down shift. For example, if i am stopped i can upshift to 2nd gear, but cant downshift to go back to 1st gear. Same thing while driving if i am slowing down or going down hill, it wont downshift at all, only up shift. Has anyone experienced the same thing with their Elantra? Or is that how it is suppose to work? Ive used other sport shifters and they have always downshifted. I know it automatically does it when you slow down, but id like to MANUALLY do it. lol.

The shiftronic manual shifting is done via electronic switches. My guess is the switch for the downshift has gone bad. Take it back to the dealer to have it fixed under warranty.

Ya thats what I was thinking as well. I have an appointment tomorrow morning. This car drives amazing and I love it, just wish the little things didnt make me upset like this, and when I first got it the voice activation didnt work because the mic pin wasnt plugged in all the way and also the arm rest squeaking. Both are fixed now but just the little things.

I have no trouble downshifting, but I can't upshift to 5th or 6th unless the car is going fast enough. Is this right??

Yes, that is right. The computer won't let you upshift or downshift too early.

So I got my car back and the reason the sport shift wasnt working was because the harness for it was not fully connected, which I had this problem with my microphone for my navigation Im glad it was just something as easy as that but come on Hyundai this was assembled in Alabama!
