2012 Elantra Ltd., possible suspension problem
For a little while now I've been hearing a bump or thump that sounds like it is coming from the rear. The odd thing is it only seems to occur at very low speeds, like <25mph and on very small road bumps. I have checked everything a non-mechanic could reasonably check, like made sure there's nothing bouncing around in the trunk, nothing bouncing around in the wheel well, the trunk latch is secure, etc. It seems to be getting louder and more frequent with time. (Car has 19,500 miles).
A couple mechanically inclined friends have suggested a broken shock or problem with the sway bar. Nobody has ventured a plausible guess on why it would only occur at low speeds.
I'm taking it in tomorrow but I wanted to see if anyone here had experienced anything similar.

Survey says...
Dealer is saying it is the FRONT wheel bearings. I'm not buying it at all. The sound is clearly coming from the rear. I know these sounds are sometimes difficult to track down but I can reproduce it at a slow enough speed to know it occurs simultaneous to the rear axle going over a bump. I'm going to let them "fix" it because hey, free wheel bearings. But I have my doubts that is what is causing the noise I'm hearing.
