AIR BAG LIGHT
I have a 02 Elantra GLS and about a year ago i had the driver seat belt replace by Hyundai because my air bag light was on and they said that was the problem. Now Yesterday when i got in the car my air bag light was on all day but not today its off. When i first start up the car the air bag light stays lite for a few seconds and then goes out. I was told by a friend of mine that the light has to flash 3 times and then go out is this true?? Should i take it into Hyundai to have it check being that the light is now off i don't think they can pull up a code if the light is off.

RE: AIR BAG LIGHT
if its the 2.0L and basically the same engine as a 2001 tiburon. i heard there is a sensor for the air bag by the radiator and that from the heat it will go out. i'm not sure where exactly it is or if i'm even right on this, but its worth taking a look at or asking about. hope you figure it out

RE: AIR BAG LIGHT
I had a problem with my 2005 ElantraAir Bag sensor in the Passenger Seat Sensor (the one that turns the Passenger Air Bag Off if no one is sitting in it). The dealer repaired the sensor and it is fine. When I was having the problem though, I seem to remember that when I first turned the car on, the AIR BAG light in the instrument cluster would go on and stay on fora few seconds, then go off. If someone sat in the passenger seat or I reached over and pressed on the right spot, the AIR BAG light would come back on.
When they fixed it, I noticed that the AIR BAG light would flash (3 times, I think) when I started the car, then stay off. So if it's on continuously when you first start the car, I think there isa code stored that the shop can read.
