Hyundai Elantra While not much larger than the accent, the Elantra offers similar room, but a sportier look and feel, as well as more power.

Exclamation Cam Shaft

I own a 1996 Elantra and I would like to know what the camshaft lift and durations are between the 1.6GLS and 1.8GLS beta engines.

And once this is established will it be possible for to install 1.8GLS inlet cam onto the 1.6GLS cylinder head. I speak under correction that the 1.8GLS camshaft has a higher lift as opposed to the 1.6 however durations are the same.

My reason for asking is that 1.8 inlet cam may improve performance/response by allowing air to enter quicker and exit quicker with stock 1.6 exhaust cam.

Is this true?
