Default Code P0772?

Just took my girlfriend's 2001 Elantra in for service to the dealer hoping they would cover a persistent transmission issue that has gotten worse lately. When starting out, the car will rev to about 4000 or so, then shift hard into 3rd gear with a check engine light coming on immediately. After doing some research, it looks like it's either the Input or Output speed sensor. The dealer gave me code P0772, which doesn't seem to correspond, but they did say it was a speed sensor. Of course they charged me $105 for this helpful information and were going to charge me $300 more to fix it, but I told them to take a hike. I can screw in a sensor myself. Can anyone tell me which sensor P0772 refers to? Any help is appreciated!

Thanks,
Bryan

Thanks for the link Ken! It has 62000 miles. No - the transmission has never been flushed. You know how women are... I"m just starting to take care of things myself.

What I don't get is that it seems like the dealer says I need a speed sensor, but the code is for a solenoid. It's not slipping into gears as the link says may happen with the solenoid - it just stays in 3rd full time now. Seems to me they're either trying to throw me for a loop or set me up for multiple part replacement. I have confidence I can replace sensors as long as they're accessible. But if it is a solenoid, does anyone know if it's a DIY job?

Again, thanks for the help!
