Diverse problems 2002 Elantra GT
My 2002 Elantra GT bought new Jan 02 didn't have any problems until the last few months, problems that I now relate.
Started in Feb 08, I was away for two weeks and on return, started using the car and noticed something wrong with the steering, it was making growling noise when turning. Checked the oil and the reservoir as empty, drive to my mechanic and the result, a blown seal on the rack and pinion, solution, a rebuilt.
Now July, away one week, return, check engine light on, code P1440, solution replaced gas cap reset light, didn't work, replaced purge valve solenoid, light off.
Now the latest vacation end of Sept, on return, pool of transmission oil under car, drive to mechanic, replaced gasket on drain plug, and the transmission oil but the problem still there, it is leaking oil from somewhere.
By the way the car have only 70k Kms, (42K miles), but due to Canada beeing Canada the power train warranty is good for only 5/50K and of course the dealer refuses to do anything under warranty.
Any one with similar problems. Is this happening because the car is jealous that I go on vacation ?
I'm leaving again on a cruise at the end o Dec. and I'm afraid of what will be wrong on return...

RE: Diverse problems 2002 Elantra GT
No! No work done in that area ever and because I own the car since new can be sure of it.
I come across a 2006 service bulletin to the US dealers mentioning an existing problem with transmission leaks on all models from 1999-2006, to be repaired under the 10/100k warranty.
So I just finished asking the Canadian branch if it will be doing the same
