Door Ajar Light

Door Ajar Light
I have a Hyundai Elantra (2004).
About 6 months ago the door ajar light and bell would activate when making right turns if my leg was against the door.
Now when I shut the door the light and signal activate. If the door ajar light is off, just touching the door causes it to activate.
A small piece of tape where the door touches the switch stops the problem.
However, the bottom of the door frame is scratched and the insulation ripped as if the door is scraping (although it doesn't feel as if it is.)
I am going to try adjusting the door latch striker plate as mentioned here:
My door open light keeps coming on. Mitsubishi Eclipse. (Mitsubishi Eclipse Lights Interior lights)
But I wonder if the signs of scraping on the frame should be a concern.

Adjusting the striker plate - loosening the screws and pushing it as far towards the frame (car interior) as possible - fixed the ajar light problem completely.
I'm still a little concerned about why the insulation at the bottom of the door frame is torn.
