Default elantra 2001 tranny problems

Hi, i got a 2001 elantra and having some bad tranny issues. First of all, it is an automatic. The stick shift is reeally hard. I can barely move it to drive position. Went to garage and the tranny cable is ok. When i put it on drive position on the stick, seems like the car is always in 3rd gear. It skips the drive position and goes directly to 3rd gear. Very annoying problem. Also seems like theres a difference between the gear position between the letter displayed on the stick shift and the one on the dash. E.g drive letter on stick shift but seems in neutral on dash. Plz help

Check engine also lights up sometime.

Shifter hard to move ?? Spill soda pop or other sticky liquid on the console ?? Spray some window cleaner and blow out with air..

Put shifter in "D", and feels like car starting out in maybe 3rd.. and the MIL been illuminated.... scan it, likely speed sensor concern for input to TCM...Elantra seems to favor the input speed sensor,,, but have it scanned to verify actual code(s)

I changed my first tranny sensors, speed sensors and the other one...its posted here.

Its been running fine for a long long time, I still get a good feeling thinking about the $1000's saved not having the transmission worked on.

Little easy to change sensors, are cheap too.....job is about 30 minutes.
