extreme Vibration when at stop lights

extreme Vibration when at stop lights
my sons Elantra has this loud vibration noise, the kind thats like a hum..so loud it can make the ear drums rumble!!
if I roll the windows down the frequency shifts and is not so bad, also if I put it in park it lessens and ...and when driving its not noticeable at all?
is it a motor mount or idle issue
its like the car vibrates at a low low frequency.
