How do i remove the console where the shifter is?
I have a 2003 hyundai elantra gt auto.
I spilled some soda on the console a while ago and it wiped the top off but i notice some water and goo coming out from the sides of the shift stick console.
i used a screw driver to take off the rubber part in the middle of the shifter and i noticed that on the gears there is all this orange gooey stuff.... is that normal?
I would like to clean all around the shifter but i cant find a way to open the console.

1.Remove the console box assembly. (Refer to Body Group).
2.Remove the **** installation screws.
3.Disconnect the overdrive switch connector, remove the 3 connector pins from connector with small punch, and then remove selector **** assembly.
4.Disconnect the position indicator light connector and E/N switch connector.
5.Remove the shift lever indicator assembly.
6.Remove self lock pin from the link.
7.Remove the clip from the shift lever side.
8.Remove the bolt-washer assembly located on dash panel.
9.Remove the clip from the transaxle side.
10.Remove the transaxle control cable assembly.
