Just bought a '99 Elantra and I have a question about the MC and the CEL
I just bought a 1999 Elantra for $400. Can't beat that kind of bargain. The problem is the master cylinder is dead and the check engine light is on. I need to fix the MC before I can dive it and need for deal with CEL before I can have it inspected.
On the MC does anything else from another car work? I'm going to go to a pull-a-part and get something here soon.
With the CEL the last owner says its an O2 sensor code. It looks like all the vitals are fine and the plugs look like its running fine. Once I get it road worthy I'll take it to a parts store and have them pull the code to be sure. Assuming the last owner wasn't BSing me does anyone know what kind of resistance the computer is looking for? Also how long after fixing it does it take the computer to reset?
