Overheating problem
Hi all - just joined to ask this question
My 99 Hyundai Elantra has been overheating under load only and I figured it was the head gasket, but I just did a self-compression test and all 4 cylinders started around 100 then after 4 seconds went to 140
Is this good? Can I conclude my head gasket is ok from this?
Someone mentioned that if its fine all of the time except when you are on the gas or going up hills, it could be the water pump which I was gonna do next
Thanks

My 2000 is running 175 compression so that is a little low. But are your notcing any anti freeze lose. If so that maybe a gasket leak. Make sure it has plenty of anti freeze, then check if you fans are turning on, if them are good check your upper hose if its hots then the thermastat is working, if not there's your problem change the thermastat.
