Thinking of Buying A new Elantra 2011 ?
Ok I like the style-like the window mpg( have an Accent-daughter's - which is reliable) should I buy a 2011 Elantra-is it comfortable on trips 7 better than the 2010--certainly looks better ? Is it reliable-made in Alabama ok some are made in Korea.. the one I like has a window sticker for $18600.. which is well equipped with alloy wheels.. any other tips? no fogs though-can they be added? Real price expected to pay ...thanks MJB

I got my fully loaded, but I did test drive the GLS which is the same car just without the features. No matter what model, it is an amazing car. I have taken long drives in it and it is one of the best cars I have used for long road trips. It is a smooth ride and comfortable leg room for your passengers as well as yourself. The MPG is true and as long as your going 65-70mph you will get around 38-40MPG. For a little car it has great acceleration and it handles turns excellent. I have used my sport shift to down shift around turns and I have not once spun out and I have accelerated this car hard around turns. The auto stabilizer comes on and does an excellent drive. This car is worth it. Buy the limited its only $2000 extra and ull get your fogs and sunroof! I got everything it so it was stickered at 22,000 which after taxes and license was $26000.

New Elantra
I have a 2011 Elantra Limited. I like the car in general, styling is great, handles nice. Lots of interior room,
Here's the issues.
The spare tire was a BIG issue with me. I went around pricing rims and tires, finally found one at Town Fair Tire, but I was too late. Hit a plate on the turnpike at 50mph and blew out the sidewall. Towed to the dealership and paid for a new tire. Got my spare 2 days later, and guess what...? Turning into a parking lot going less than 10mph brushed the curb and the sidewall blew-- had to use the new spare. SO, I trashed the continental tires that came with the vehicle and replaced them with michelins. So far so good.
Also the MGP listed is a pipe dream. Even before the spare was in the trunk I wasn't getting anywhere near the listed EPA MPG. And I'm a hypermiler. (slow acceleration, coast to stops etc). I was getting 35 to 38 mpg using these methods on my Camry. I am getting 27 to 28 MPG City and 35 Highway with the 2011 Elantra Ltd.
Those are big issues to me, but overall I'm still happy with the vehicle. GET A SPARE and switch out to a good brand of tires, save yourself some grief.
