Hyundai Elantra While not much larger than the accent, the Elantra offers similar room, but a sportier look and feel, as well as more power.

Will any 15x5.5/4x4.5" wheel fit my 2005? Thanks!

Smile Will any 15x5.5/4x4.5" wheel fit my 2005? Thanks!

I have the option to buy some alloy 15x5.5 wheels with a 4x4.5" bolt pattern. These are the same specs as my 2005 Elantra, but my Elantra wheels are steel.

Will my tires made for the steel wheels fit on these alloys and then be usable on my Elantra?

Thanks!

There is no such thing as "tires made for steel wheels". Tires are made for a specific diameter (and width to a less extent). The material that wheels is made for doesn't matter. I think the 5.5" width is a little thin but shouldn't cause a problem.

Thanks very much for your reply!

So I don't need to worry about 'backspacing' or anything else? Any wheel with the right size and lug pattern will fit? I'm pretty sure the current wheel width is 5.5 also.

I also want to check my CV boots while I'm under there. Last time I was under there I couldn't see them. Is there any trick to locating the CV boots on a 2005 Elantra?

More searching has told me that the 2005 Elantra has a 67.1 hub center bore (source: elantraxd.com/forums/showthread.php?4576-Wheels-and-Tires-FAQ-(updated-w-sizing)-READ-THIS! )

But this page ( roadkillcustoms.com/hot-rods-rat-rods/Wheel-Bolt-Pattern-Cross-Reference-Database.asp?LugCount=5&StudSpreadInch=4.5&StudSpr eadMM )

Indicates that most Acuras have a 64.1mm hub center bore, apart from a few which have 70.3mm hub center bore. So I *THINK* these Acura wheels won't fit. I think the hub center bore is meant to fit snugly in the wheel, so it needs to be the same size or bigger, and if bigger you need to add concentric rings.

Is this right? Can anyone confirm?

Thanks. So it seems this hub center bore is another critical number, like 15x5.5 dimensions or 4x4.5 bolt pattern, but much less well known. None of the wheels I've looked at for sale on the 'net have this measurement
