This problem started about three weeks ago. Sometimes the car won't start. This has happened three times now. Once the car started after sitting overnight and once after sitting for about 5 hours. This time it's been 8 hours but hasn't started yet.

Plenty of gas, battery good, battery cables clean and tight, new spark plugs and wires, is getting spark, checked fuel pump relay. When it doesn't start, I don't hear a noise coming from the gas tank when I turn the key to the on position. I haven't listened for the noise when it does start, so I don't really know what to listen for exactly, but there isn't any noise at all coming from around the gas tank.

I've been told that if the fuel pump was bad then it wouldn't start until it was replaced. Twice now it's started and run for several days without a problem, then it just won't start. It might start when I go to check it here in a few minutes, it might start tomorrow morning, it might not start at all.

If it's not the fuel pump, I don't know what else to check that might cause this type of a problem.

Maybe your starter or solenoid are bad, or a loose wire to either of them?
