Check your REAL gas mileage!
That nice little trip computer that tells you you're getting 27.5 mpg is a real comfort to an also-pickup-truck driver. Just don't start believing it. I finally got to test my Touring's highway gas mileage, except for getting into and out of town it was all highway.
Filled to neck at Sam's club in Farmington, New Mexico. Traveled west to Ship rock, New Mexico. Then north, on the Devils Highway, to Cortez, Colorado. East to Hesperus, Colorado. South on the LaPlata highway to the Sam's club station in Farmington. Filled-up to neck.
Conditions: 75 to 85 degrees, A/C ON for whole trip, 4 speed auto trans., about two thirds of the trip was fairly flat, but over 5,000 feet altitude, the other third was lower mountains in south-west Colorado.
Total trip: 161.9 miles
Total fuel used: 3.936 gallons
MPG: 41.13
Amazed? Me too!!! Do the math!
