reversed with doors open? bent door frame?
Good evening from wet and damp Central Florida -
I was backing my car out of my driveway the other day to allow my roommate to move her car, and I threw the car into reverse without shutting the door all the way. As the car lurched backwards, the door slammed open to it's fully open limit and bounced back and hit me in the leg (which was dangling out of the car).
I immediately stopped the car, and took a look at the door hinges. There are three hinges on the door, but only one of them (the center one) is responsible for stopping the door before it the other two stops kick in.
The door didn't actually hit anything, but I'm afraid the force of the car accelerating might have loosened the door hinge or the surrounding metal fittings around it.
Do you think there was any lasting damage done?
Thanks for your insight!
