Default Signed a deal for a new 2010 Touring GLS Sport tonight; questions...

My first post. Bought a new 2010 Touring GLS Sport tonight. Looks like a great car for the money, and has all the important features I wanted. We are quite excited.

I have read some reviews of the 2009s where 'wiper de-icing' and 'tire pressure monitors' are mentioned. I was not aware of these features, and cannot see it in the list of specifications on the Hyundai Canada website.

Does the 2010 sold in Canada have these options? Or is this an American/European option?

Thanks!

Chris

Congrats on the new car. I picked up a 2010 3 weeks ago and loving it.

The TPS system is listed right on my dealer sticker and the light on the dash comes on before I start the car. I can't help you on the de icing stuff because I am down in Sunny Florida.

Congrats on your purchase. You can check if you have those options easily enough. First, turn the key to run but don't start the car. All the warning lights should light up. If you have the tire pressure monitoring system you should see a yellow light that says "TPMS" and a symbol that looks like this:

For the windshield wiper de-icers, look for 1 or 2 wires in the windshield at the base, just where the wipers are parked. The wires will look like the ones for the rear window de-ice. If those wires are there, you have the de-icers. There should be a switch to the left of the steering wheel to operate the wiper de-icer. The rear window de-ice switch also operates the heated outside mirrors.

I'm in Ontario and my 2009 did not come with 'tire pressure monitors'. Not sure if the Canadian 2010 will. My 2009 has 'wiper de-icing', your 2010 will too. What my 09 does not have (US ones do) is Stability Control and Traction Control and I just read a review today saying the Canadian 2010's will come with Stability Control and Traction Control. You are very lucky! The Cdn 09s only came with ABS.

Do the heated outside mirrors work automatically? Ie if say I were to turn on the defroster, the mirrors would then get into action?

There is no manual switch to speak of or I'm totally missing it...

Sorta automatic but not with the windshield defrost/defog. The heated mirrors work with the REAR defroster. When you turn on the rear window defroster it also turns on the heated mirrors. (see pic below)

And I was mistaken about the windshield wiper de-icer. In the Touring, it has it's own switch located on the left of the steering wheel. (see pic below)

Got my car last Wednesday night. love it so far, but there seem to be a few defects in the rear glass. I'll have to bring it back to the dealer to take a look. Its just a few spots that seem to be beneath the coating on the glass. Not very noticeable but something to bring up on a brand-new car.
