Anybody else have trouble getting quotes for winter tires? A few places I called would not give me a quote as they did not have any info on the proper rims for a 2010 model. A few places did give me a quote after some deliberation as to the proper fit.

I ended up getting the rims and X-Ice tires from the Hyundai dealer as they came in at the same price as a couple of the places that did manage to give me a price. Figured I would go with the dealer as they would know for certain what went on the car. They ended up ordering 195/65/15s.

How much did the dealer charge for snow tires/rims?

Don't buy snow tires and wheels from a dealer (unless you want to spend too much money). Get both from places like Tire Rack, Discount Tires, 1010Tires.com or Tredepot.com:

I understand the skepticism on buying tires from the dealer. I didn't want to get them online, and wanted a local supplier. The dealer came in at the same price as a couple of local tire shops so I went with them.

I paid $1000 CDN installed and balanced for 15in rims and X-ice tires. Unless I had them online, it was a reasonable price around here.

15inch rims, and studded winter tires for 930 installed and balanced taxes incl.

Mounted and balanced, my 4 Firestone Winterforce snow tires (studs are illegal here) were only $400. Granted, I didn't have to buy wheels because I already had the factory 16" wheels to mount them on. But if I had to buy 16" wheels, I'm sure i would have paid less than the $300 ($240+60 shipping) I paid for the 18" wheels I purchased from eBay for my summer tires. Add those together and it's $230 less than what the dealer charged you.

Thanks, now I don't feel so bad paying $830 for four Yokohama Ice Guard II (215/65R16) and four steel rims to replace my 17" stock aluminum.

New X-Ice tires installed. Little louder than the stock, but the ride is softer (also 10c outside today which would affect handling on the winters). I do have a couple of questions.

The Sport comes standard with P215/45 HR17 tires. The door label indicates 32psi for those tires. I now have P195/65 R15 installed (same size as the 2010 base model). Would the 15 inch tires also require 32psi?

Another question I had was regarding the speedometer and odometer readings. My understanding was that a smaller tire would affect the readings...the dealer assured me that using the size tires from the base model would not affect those readings since Hyundai would account for this when designing the car, and determining the size tires for the base and sport models. Does this sound right?

Thanks guys. So far loving the Touring and I know a few folks who will now be looking at this car for their next purchase.

Yes, keep the same air pressure.

The 195/65-15 tires ate about 9mm taller than the stock 215/45-17 tires. That will make your speedometer approx 1.5% off (slow). At an indicated 60 mph, you will actually be traveling 60.9 mph. Not a big deal.
