toasted clutch.
25,000 km and the clutch is gone on my elantra. I noticed this morning the clutch travel was engaging on the high side of the pedal, as all my vehicles are manuals, none of which had the past crispness of my new car, I passed it off as me being crazy, as it's been three weeks since I Drove the et.
my ford truck and celica are of the 80s and need all the trickery to run threw the gears. but there no clutch slipage.
well in rush hour, the obvious smell of clutch burning greets me shifting between 2nd and third, and high revs and no engagement..
I have been driving stick all my life so I'm not at fault, car was recantly serviced (oli change) and clutch cylinder is full and fluid is clean, on my last cruse to Edmonton Alberta I had 0 issues.
any one else have or had issues with the clutch on elantras and is their after market parts for these cars?
I had road side tow me home as I don't have a car waiting for me at the dealership, I know this is a non warranty deal..
I can't see a hydraulic clutch going out of a two-year old car with 25,000 km yet this what I have, thankfully I have old cars that are not dead..

I will call hyundia Canada, as this is a wear item, I would expect it not to be covered, my only fault with thus car is the low profile rims vers curbs..
all manufacturers don't have equal warranty in Canada and the united states.. 3 years or 60,000 km full coverage, or 5 years 100,00 km power train is what's offered in my 2011, as for the escape clause written by the manufacturer, I will find out..

one year or 20,000 km... on hyundia weWeb side.. next time I buy a new manual equipped car, this is a question worth asking to the only brand offering awd and manual transmissions.
I would rather park this car till its paid off than reinvest money into a prearranged payment plan.
as for the aftermarket, if any one has gone this route, let me in, as for oem that's only good for 20,000 km, + a dealers labour on a deprecated clunk of Korean craftsmanship, the car can gather dust till I donate it to the kidney foundation..
I will call my dealer and go from there, thanks for listening to my frustrated ranting, my dealer had been outstanding so far, so I will give them the benefit of working out a solution.

power train warranty, 5.years or 100,000 km, including clutch disc and hydraulics is covered by warranty if there is a manufacturer defect that caused clutch failure, dealer has to inspect, if diver error and abuse led to clutch failure after the first year, or 20,000 km, than thief's no warranty coverage.
it's up to my dealer now to determine a course of action. thanks for listening,

Dealer assessed my car today, but could not offer up specific warranty details or $$$to repair as car will need to pulled apart..
Initial indications are the clutch disk is done, as to the cause, theirs speculation on a faulty throw out bearing, or pressure plate, Techs find it odd that the clutch is engaging high on the pedal, what's left of the clutch is still trying to drive the car..
no oil leaks on the main seal.. I drove a used touring to show the service manager I can drive stick.
until I authorise the work order, nothing will be determined.
