Water Intrusion ET 2010
I am having problems with water getting into my 2010 Elantra Touring SE. The car is recently out of warranty with just over 63,000 miles on the odometer. The dealer reports that I am "on my own" unless the issue is specific to the internal parts of the drive train.
The carpet in the rear passenger area is either damp when it rains or shows dried residue if it has not rained in several days. During very wet spells, the water seems to be effecting the electronics in the car as the radio (in any mode: AM/FM/CD/MP3) has cracking and unexpected changes in volume. I also have had an instance where the battery drained after the car was parked for a couple days, but nothing was left on: I think the battery is discharging to ground due to wet wires.
I had the sunroof replaced under warranty at about 56,000 miles due to it leaking and I also had the trim pieces for the roof rails replaced as they failed. I cannot find evidence that either of these are the source of the leak.
Has anyone else had such a problem and can you recommend where I should start looking for the leak?
Many thanks!
